Subcontracting and supplying of services and materials is pivotal to our industry, in the face of increasingly diverse skills for construction operations. From a technical point of view, subcontracting may be required to cater for work of high technical complexity, entailing an ever-increasing need for specialist inputs into construction processes. Outsourcing the supply of material and specialized workforce can also enable the mitigation of certain risks through organizations which are better equipped to manage them. As such, we rely on our subcontractors and suppliers to deliver major segments of our projects. We strive to build long-term relationships with our suppliers and subcontractors (or specialist contractors), which we believe is central to ensuring that sustenance of supply chains and the development of knowledge and skills in the wider industry, which in turn will guarantee timely delivery and zero failures. Mutual understanding and consistent engagement with our subcontractors and suppliers helps us to deliver our products to the required standards of quality. Ensuring the health and safety of our employees is central to what we do—and this applies equally to our subcontractors and suppliers. From an environmental point of view, we ensure that our suppliers and subcontractors adapt the same environmental standards as we do, in order to ensure the conduct of sustainable business across the value chain. Suppliers and subcontractors are selected through a process that takes into account the magnitude and technical complexity of the work in question, the standards expected by the client, and the supplier’s or subcontractor’s past performance, reliability, experience and financial stability. Through this process, we also ensure that our suppliers and subcontractors are fully aware of the nature of and complexity of their work and accept responsibility for managing health, safety and the environment. Our suppliers and sub contractors are also expected to address the needs of their employees and local communities.
Local Sourcing
As much as possible, we strive to source our suppliers and subcontractors locally. This enables us to maintain reliable chain of supply at all times. It also allows us to support and invest in the community, generating employment opportunities for local contractors and creating market openings for suppliers of local materials and components, especially when executing projects at remote locations.
